LG Shine Titanium - Coming soon to the UK

The LG Shine Titanium has dumped her shiny mirrored finish in favour of 'Titanium Black'. The Shine Titanium is a stunning-looking slider phone with a 2.2 inch display and a multi-function scroll wheel, making menu navigation simple and easy.

It has a 2 megapixel camera with a Schneider-Kreuznach lens (they're very good, apparently) that helps ensure perfect results, every time. Photos have a resolution of up to 1600x1200 pixels and the camera has autofocus, flash, zoom, continuous shoot and video record/playback.

There's 70 MB of internal memory and should you need more it can be expanded using a standard microSD memory card. Other features include a good MP3 player, web browser and stereo Bluetooth.

Samsung L760 - Coming soon to the UK

Arriving within the next few weeks, the Samsung L760 will be the first YouTube-compatible mobile phone. Users will be able to record video clips and upload them directly to YouTube while on the move.

The L760 is a slim slider phone similar to the U700, only a bit chunkier measuring 100x47x15mm. It has a 2 megapixel camera and a secondary VGA camera for making video calls.

We expect that either camera could be used to record YouTube clips. Other features include FM radio, a web browser, RSS reader and a microSD memory card slot.

Sony Ericsson K850i Green - Coming soon to the UK

The 5 megapixel Sony Ericsson K850i is the next generation in Cyber-shot cameraphones. New features include an automatic camera cover and updated software including a brand new media browser with Accelerometer (more about that in a moment). Similar to the K810i, the new K850i has small but well-spaced keys. There's an even larger display, now 2.2 inches. Sony Ericsson have also added HSDPA, which means faster 3G downloads.

The K850i camera is a 5 megapixel job and there's loads of technology packed in to ensure your photos are as good as those taken with a dedicated digital camera. It has auto focus, image stabiliser, xenon flash and Sony Ericsson's BestPic technology which takes nine shots in quick succession and lets you choose the best one. One of the most impressive new features is the Accelerometer which allows you to view photos in either portrait or landscape mode by simply rotating the phone. Hold the K850i upright to view your photos in portrait mode, turn it on it's side and the screen rotates 90 degress to show your photos in landscape mode.

Let's not forget that the K850i is much more than just a cameraphone. It's also a 3G videophone, a music player, a web browser, RSS reader and a mobile office. It's capable of playing high quality video, 3D games and it has an FM radio plus stereo Bluetooth. All of Sony Ericsson's gizmos are included such as TrackID, PlayNow, picture blogging, Push email, it's all there. There's 40 MB of memory built in and more can be added using either a Memory Stick Micro card or a microSD card. Available in two colours; Velvet Blue or Luminous Green.

SWAP.IT from The Carphone Warehouse

The Carphone Warehouse has launched a unique new promotion called SWAP.IT. It allows customers to exchange their mobile phone for a new model after nine months. Carphone claim this is their biggest proposition launch so far for this year. The offer is available with a range of free phones and is subject to an 18 month contract costing £35 per month. The choice of phones available include the three most popular from the mid range sector - Nokia 6300, Sony Ericsson K810i or Samsung U600.

After nine months the customer can visit a Carphone Warehouse store and exchange their phone for a newer model. The exact models available will depend on availability at the time and will also depend on the monthly line rental. On a £35 tariff the 6300 can be exchanged for a 6500 classic, the K810i for a T650i and the U600 for a F210. These are mid-range phones and appear to be slightly lower spec compared to the phones they will be exchanging. From the examples provided by Carphone, it would seem they will be offering a phone that is newer but not necessarily better.

Customers will be able to exchange for a more expensive phone but will need to pay an additional fee. Phones will be banded as bronze, silver or gold. Bronze phones will incur no additional cost. Silver will cost £49.99 and gold £99.99. Customers who choose a £40 or £45 tariff will be able to exchange for a silver band phone for free. High users spending £50 per month or more on their line rental will be able to choose a gold band phone for free.

It's important to note that when exchanging the customer must hand over their existing phone. In monetary terms it's unlikely that the newer phone will be much more valuable than the old. For example, in nine months time a K810i might fetch £60 if sold on eBay. The T650i would probably attract about the same price.

The Motorola RAZR2 V8 is the successor to the incredibly popular RAZR V3.
