Palm have developed a groundbreaking Palm webOS mobile platform, built from the ground up to be constantly connected to the web, and the new Palm Pre, the first phone based on the new platform.

The Palm Pre mobile phone on O2 Smart 45 gives you 1200 anytime minutes to any network and 500 text message per month. Deal includes unlimited mobile internet and free Wi-Fi on all tariffs (worth £15 per month). Line rental is £45 per month over an 18 month contract.

The Palm Pre is a quad band mobile phone with 3G (HSDPA), GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 with A2DP, infrared and micro USB connectivity. It's powered by an ARM Cortex A8 600 MHz processor with 8GB internal memory and a PowerVR SGX graphics chip.

Featuring a smooth, rounded ergonomic design and a physical keyboard that slides out only when needed, Pre is engineered to feel natural in the hand and comfortably small in the pocket. It has a 3.1 inch colour TFT touchscreen display (320 × 480 pixels and 16 million colours) with a full QWERTY keyboard and an accelerometer sensor for auto rotate.

Other features of the Palm Pre mobile phone include: vibrate alert, polyphonic ringtones, MP3 ringtones, speakerphone, 3.5 mm audio jack, 3.15 megapixel digital camera (with enhanced fixed focus and LED flash), HTML web browser, games and GPS receiver.

The Palm Pre mobile phone weighs 133 grams and is 16.9 mm thick (full dimensions 100.5 × 59.5 × 16.9 mm). It supports a stand-by time of up to 300 hours and a talk time of up to 5 hours.
